According to the figures, the Greek shipping controls 8.7% of world fleet 4173 ships with a total capacity of 261 million tonnes, equivalent to 16.4% of the shipping industry worldwide. Last year, the Greek shipping industry contributed to the economy of our country with 17 billion U.S. dollars, an amount that corresponds to 7% of GDP.
