Part I - Shipyard CHRIS CRAFT

The American boats Chris Craft have equate the name of the yard with this high-speed. The story of Chris Craft begins on May 20, 1861 the day the birth of the founder of Christopher Columbus Smith. In his youth, the colleagues were fanatically Smith along with his brother Henry in duck hunting. In 1874 the brothers decided to proceed with the construction of a specialized vessel, adapted to their favorite hobby. Their success was such that many hunters, wanting to emulate the same ordering pipeline resulting in 1881 to begin production the first time internal combustion engines.The first speedboat named Dart, built in 1905 and was the model of "key" that brought the brothers Smith in the spotlight with a record speed.Some years later, the yard together with an investor and lover of the speed Johnny J. "Baldy" Ryan built models Reliance 1 Reliance 2 and reaching the time to reach the amazing speed of 33 knots!
In 1910 the art of racing speedboats moved to offering a new series starting in the market while a golden period for Chris Craft. In 1922, the yard flooded with orders and forced to increase production in 1929 reached to sell 946 vessels with 3.5 million dollars profit.
